Steve and Lorraine Stavropolous
Steve began service with TWR Swaziland in 1977. Lorraine joined him after their marriage in 1979. They met while studying at Rosebank Bible College. Their three children, Esther, Duane and John were born in Manzini, Swaziland.
Steve graduated from Natal University as an electrical engineer and presently serves as Chief Engineer of the Trans World Radio Station in Swaziland. He is responsible for the technical aspects of the work in the studios in Manzini, the computer network and the link that transfers the radio programmes to the transmitter site 35km away on a farm outside Manzini.
He is also responsible for technical matters pertaining to the short wave and medium wave transmitters and antennae at the transmitter site. Steve and his team have just completed an upgrade of four short wave antennae. This will allow the short wave broadcasts to southern Africa to have a stronger signal.
In addition, Steve is responsible for the technical needs of the siSwati Voice of the Church FM network that broadcasts nationwide in Swaziland and assists with Radio Capital FM in Mozambique.
Steve manages the technical staff, maintains high standards in broadcasting, plans new projects and sees that everything runs well and efficiently.
While Steve is busy keeping the transmitters on air, Lorraine answers listener letters from various parts of the world and assists with hosting guests and work parties who visit the studios and transmitter site.
She's involved in a supportive role for Steve and the family while assisting with the many responsibilities a mission station presents.
