Rev Barbara and Rev Andrew MacDonald

Rev Barbara and Rev Andrew MacDonald

Andrew and Barbara MacDonald have been with Trans World Radio for more than 28 years. After serving in Cape Town for two years, they spent 14 years in Swaziland before opening up the Africa Regional Office in Kempton Park in 1993.

As Director of Ministry for the Africa region, Andrew is responsible for the strategic development and expansion of TWR's radio programming in Africa. He is also responsible for the daily on-air ministry in 60 languages.

Andrew leads a team of dedicated specialists at the Africa Regional Office who work tirelessly to ensure that programmes are produced in time for broadcast, while new programmes are developed in languages not already covered by Trans World Radio in Africa.

This task involves working closely with the TWR's national partners and various Christian organisations across the globe to find ways to reach the unreached in Africa.

Barbara is the Director of Audience Relations and Counselling for TWR's Africa region. She is responsible for training staff, handling listener responses and refering those who contact TWR in response to radio programmes to competent people-caregivers in various countries in Africa.

Barbara assists TWR's national partners in implementing the TWR Regional Audience Relations strategy. Information on listener statistics is stored in a database and is made available to those responsible for database management and donor development in each country and in the corporate office.

Andrew and Barbara have three children, David, a minister in Uitenhage, Steaphan in Pinetown and John in Cape Town, who are both businessmen.

They also have five grandchildren.
