Prayer calender for Friday, 21 November 2008 to Friday, 5 December 2008

There are countless children who fall through the “cracks” of the system and never go to school. For these children, life is about survival and learning is an ultimate luxury. The Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) identified these forgotten ones of society as “children at risk” and formed the Open School Project. This project aims to provide an educational intervention for various groups of children in South Africa and Swaziland, like street children, children in orphanages and shelters, child-headed households, children in isolated villages and neglected children in informal settlements. Currently ACSI is collaborating with TWR to produce audio versions of the material.

Friday, 21 November 2008  –  Pray that TWR will reach these “unreachable” children to bring a message of hope and change.

Saturday, 22 November 2008  –  Let us bring Danie du Preez to the Lord as he continually needs God’s wisdom in all aspects of leading TWR in South Africa.

Sunday, 30 November 2008  –  Let us thank the Lord for His goodness, faithfulness and presence during this month. Please pray for the staff during the last month of this year.

TWR-SA recently hosted the first African International Partners Conference where 80 delegates from across the globe came together to discuss how as partners we can address the problems of Africa. In unity we can make a difference and pray for a revival in Africa. As we face the end of this year and prepare for 2009, we will focus our prayers on the six areas of TWR’s Global Strategic Plan. Wholistic* health – Trans World Radio saw the need for reaching out with a message to promote health to the whole person. Through mass media, access to knowledge/skills and physical support is made readily available to anyone. TWR’s wholistic health strategy addresses the day-to-day problems in sub-Saharan Africa, such as HIV/Aids, poverty, ungodly lifestyles and drug/substance abuse. (* TWR chose to spell the word “wholistic” as opposed to “holistic” in order to minimise connotations with New Age ideologies.)

Monday, 1 December 2008  –  Today is World Aids Day. Pray that listeners would receive instruction and encouragement through TWR’s broadcasts.

Tuesday, 2 December 2008  –  Let us pray for Winfred Oppong-Amoako as he works on various projects that would minister to people living in desperate circumstances.

Wednesday, 3 December 2008  –  We thank God for the Mafutseni Water Project, where TWR-Africa, Voice of the Church and Grace Walk Ministries could donate a borehole and food parcels to the 850 families in Mafutseni, Swaziland.

Thursday, 4 December 2008  –  Pray for TWR-Burundi’s work on the French production of the Farming God’s Way programme and Kande’s Story in Kirundi.

Friday, 5 December 2008  –  We ask God to bless the production of Zulu and English HIV/Aids dramas and talk-show programmes for KwaZulu-Natal.
